The Campus Conduct System can be Confusing—We Can Help
Student Rights is a student-led department within IUSG with the mission of advocating for and protecting the rights of students on our campus. We primarily accomplish this goal by working with individual students and student groups who have been accused of academic or personal misconduct.
The IUSG Department of Student Rights is a highly trained group of students who advocate for student rights on the Bloomington campus. We offer two primary services: 1) advising and assisting students and student groups in the campus conduct system and 2) providing a peer-to-peer mediation service in order to resolve conflicts between roommates, neighbors, or other students on campus. We offer free and confidential help to students for:
- Alcohol violations
- Illegal drug possession
- Residence hall violations
- Academic misconduct
- Grade appeals
- Personal mediation
Trained case managers can prepare you for and attend your hearing. Student Rights also analyzes IU policy as it pertains to students’ rights.
Please note that, like most student government members, Student Rights staff are not compensated. Please also note that the application process is highly competitive, as we typically receive many applications for a limited number of vacancies. We are currently looking to recruit a small number of staff to begin training immediately in the spring semester.
